David makes the paper... again!

Special Olympians David Frohm and Jane Crawford were among the athletes, cheerleaders, law enforcement personnel and supporters who marched through Payson Thursday morning as part of the state's Special Olympics Torch Run. Local officers continued south from town to the Roosevelt Lake turnoff. The law enforcement-sponsored run ends in Phoenix at the opening of the Special Olympics today (Friday 05/21/99). About 30 athletes from Payson will be competing.

That was the parade... now here's the party! The track is at Desert Vista High School in Ahwatukee. The track star is David... leaping the leap that nailed a Gold Medal in the Running Long Jump.

Here's David finsihing his second-favorite event to a rather attractive round of applause. It's the 1500 Meter Run. That's just over 4,921 feet... better than eight-tenths of a mile. It's his second-favorite event because he won his second medal... and because he came in second. Makes sense to me.

Here's our Special Olympian after having received The Silver, applauding his fellow athelete's Gold. There are no half measures with David... if one athelete wins, we all win, and we should all celebrate.

Congratulations, David!
